Colorado’s First Zero Waste Market Launches Campaign to Create a Sustainable, Affordable Shopping Alternative
Denver, Colorado (PRWEB) September 03, 2014
Introducing ZERO Market, Colorado’s first zero waste grocery store coming to Denver, founded by Lyndsey and Jesse Manderson. A healthy, environmentally friendly, 100% plant-based grocery shopping experience, ZERO Market will be a one stop market for anyone looking to live a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. The store encourages customers to bring in their own reusable containers and bags to fill with organic and local groceries ranging from a wide array of dry bulk goods, local produce, fresh juices, smoothies, baked goods to household cleaners, soaps, and cosmetic ingredients. Glass and stainless steel containers of all sizes will also be sold in store. Along with package-free goods, ZERO market will offer hands-on workshops and lectures about cooking and nutrition, making your own cleaners and cosmetics, and gardening and composting. All activities will be geared towards promoting community connection and building awareness and knowledge surrounding health, wellness, sustainability and environmentalism.
More than 30% of garbage in the landfills come from packaging and containers. We greatly rely on single-use plastic packaging and most of it not only ends up in landfills, but also oceans, parks and roadways. It is spread across the planet by way of wind and water and every piece that was ever manufactured still exists today.
Lyndsey Manderson, co-founder of ZERO market said, “With all of the news about toxins in plastics and the increasing amount of garbage pollution in our oceans, we thought it was time to start thinking about ways we can counter these issues.” With an option like ZERO market, Lyndsey and Jesse hope to promote a more mindful awareness among consumers.
ZERO Market looks to join a tiny group of zero waste businesses that have emerged around the world over the last three years, almost all through crowd-funding efforts. With the help of the surrounding community and people across the world, crowd-funding projects like this give the public the opportunity to voice their support for a simple and sustainable solution. Currently there are only three other well-known zero waste grocery stores on the planet, but the paradigm is clearly shifting in the world of health, wellness and sustainability. ZERO Market is looking to be the next big step forward. The ultimate goal of this endeavor is to change the face of grocery shopping by directly addressing a variety of wasteful, unhealthy issues in today’s food industry. ZERO market will be a polar opposite alternative to conventional supermarket-style shopping by offering organic, local, fresh whole food with no single-use disposable packaging in order to promote and ensure our own health and the health of the planet.
Lyndsey and Jesse are actively seeking investors and have also launched an IndieGoGo campaign that ends at the End of September. Visit: http://igg.me/at/zeromarket for more information.
